Grounding resource

Box breathing for a steadier next moment.

This brief exercise can help you slow down, settle your body, and return to one small next step.

How the exercise works

Settle into a comfortable position and let the square guide your breath: four counts in, four to hold, four out, and four to rest. One complete cycle lasts 16 seconds, and the tool guides four rounds. The square, phase label, and count change together so you do not need to watch a clock.

Select Begin when you are ready. Use Pause to stop the timer, Resume to continue the same round, or Reset to return to the beginning. The exercise runs entirely in this page, does not ask for an account, and does not save a breathing history or personal information. You can return to the main website or the resources section at any time.

While the timer is running, the phase label moves through Inhale, Hold, Exhale, and Hold. A separate round label tracks your progress from round one through round four. If you pause, the visual remains where it stopped until you choose Resume. Reset clears the current progress and returns the exercise to its ready state. No typing or personal entry is required to use the breathing guide.
